We're looking for a Lead Carpenter who takes pride in precision, craftsmanship, and teamwork. The right candidate is hands-on, organized, and skilled at guiding projects forward while mentoring others and maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality carpentry from framing through finish on residential remodeling and new build projects.
  • Lead by example: set the pace for craftsmanship, job site safety, and cleanliness.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and plans accurately.
  • Coordinate daily work with Project Managers and trade partners to stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Manage and mentor apprentices or carpenters assigned to your projects.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, trades, and the GNB team.
  • Ensure all work meets company standards for quality and detail.
  • Assist in material take-offs, ordering, and job site setup as needed.
  • Identify and resolve on-site challenges efficiently and safely.
  • Represent Great Northern Builders' values in every client and team interaction.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on residential carpentry experience, including remodeling and finish work.
  • Experience leading small crews or working independently on complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of framing, trim, cabinetry, and building systems.
  • Ability to read plans, problem-solve in the field, and maintain exceptional attention to detail.
  • Professional, respectful communication skills with clients and coworkers.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • OSHA certification or safety training a plus.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in varying conditions.

Salary & Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 position
  • $30-$38/hour, depending on experience, plus discretionary bonuses
  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks to start; additional PTO after 2 years
  • Paid Holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving + Friday after, Christmas Day, and half-day Christmas Eve
